# Georgia Moves NEMT to One Statewide Broker as Verida Takes All Five Regions

On April 1, 2026, Verida, Inc. became the only Medicaid NEMT broker in Georgia. Modivcare stopped providing Medicaid rides in the Central, East, and Southwest regions that day, and the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) moved those regions to Verida, which already served the North and Atlanta regions. Since then, a transportation company needs a Verida service agreement for Georgia Medicaid trips in any of the state's 159 counties.

## What changed on April 1, 2026

DCH splits Georgia into five NEMT regions and pays its broker a monthly rate for each eligible member who lives in them. The broker recruits and contracts transportation providers, checks each ride request, assigns trips, and pays providers. DCH updated the broker table in its NEMT policy manual on April 1, 2026 to show Verida in every region.

| Region | Counties | Broker before April 1, 2026 | Verida ride line now |
|---|---|---|---|
| North | 34 | Verida | 678-510-4555 |
| Atlanta | 3 (Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett) | Verida | 404-209-4000 |
| Central | 26 | Modivcare | 888-224-7981 |
| East | 47 | Modivcare | 888-224-7988 |
| Southwest | 49 | Modivcare | 888-224-7985 |

That moved 122 counties to Verida. DCH has not said why it made the change. Members usually book at least three business days ahead, and Verida lets them book up to 30 business days ahead. Urgent care rides are arranged within three hours, and the ride lines for hospital discharges and "Where's My Ride" run 24 hours a day.

## Who it affects

- **Providers that drove Modivcare Medicaid trips in the three regions.** Modivcare no longer arranges Georgia Medicaid rides there, so those trips now come only through Verida. DCH's FAQ says transportation providers must contact Verida to serve Medicaid members from April 1, 2026.
- **Providers already contracted with Verida.** Your agreement covers the regions and counties in it. Ask your provider relations manager before you take trips in a region you did not serve before.
- **Dialysis centers, hospitals, and clinics.** Standing orders, discharges, and facility bookings for members in the three regions now go to Verida.
- **Members.** Members in the three regions now call Verida's number for their region. Verida's Central, East, and Southwest numbers are listed in the table above.

Modivcare went through its own Chapter 11 case in 2025. See [Modivcare's exit from bankruptcy](https://nemtguide.com/news/modivcare-exits-bankruptcy/) if it still owes you for older trips.

## How to get a Verida service agreement

Georgia's NEMT policy manual sends transportation providers to the broker: you arrange a service agreement with the broker for the regions you want to serve. Verida uses four steps, and it adds providers only where a region needs them.

1. **Send the Request for Qualifications.** Fill in Verida's online form and attach a driver list and a vehicle list. Verida checks whether your area needs more providers. If it does, it calls you for an interview.
2. **Send your documents.** Verida's Georgia checklist asks for a current business license, proof of liability insurance, driver credentials, criminal background checks for all drivers, current drug screens for all owners and drivers, and a current driving record for every driver.
3. **Pass inspections and train drivers.** Every vehicle passes a safety inspection. Drivers complete First Aid, CPR, defensive driving, passenger sensitivity and customer service, spill kit, proper lifting, wheelchair securement, and driver orientation.
4. **Attend the owner orientation.** The owner goes through a session on Verida's operating rules. The contract is signed at the end of it.

Verida's general insurance list for Georgia, as of September 2026. Verida says to get the detailed requirements from your provider relations manager.

| Item | What Verida looks for |
|---|---|
| Carrier | Rated A- or better |
| General liability | The policy number, plus what Verida lists as "$1 M SAM coverage with $2M aggregate" |
| Auto liability | "All Owned, Hired, and Non-Owned" coverage, with the covered vehicles listed |
| Certificate details | Correct name and address, policy numbers, and effective and expiration dates |

State rules shape the timeline. Under the July 1, 2026 manual, the broker inspects each vehicle no more than 60 days before it enters service, then at least every six months. The broker sends DCH each signed service agreement within five business days, with driver records and a check of the OIG exclusion list, the System for Award Management, and the Social Security Death Master File. You must also hold any registration or license the law requires, such as with the Georgia Department of Public Safety or your county, and keep it active for the whole agreement. Our [broker credentialing guide](https://nemtguide.com/guides/nemt-broker-credentialing/) shows how to build the file.

## Standing orders and facility trips

A standing order is a set of recurring trips for the same member, to the same provider, for the same treatment. Verida's March 2026 facility guide sets the minimum at one or two days a week and takes requests at standingorders@verida.com. Facilities can also book through Verida's facility portal or its Special Services Representatives at 866-388-9844, option 4.

The state manual requires the broker to update or confirm each standing order every 30 days from its effective date. A stretcher standing order for dialysis needs a letter of medical necessity. Ask each dialysis center you serve to confirm its standing orders are on file with Verida, so your regular riders stay on your schedule. See NEMT standing orders for how recurring trips work.

## How Verida pays and what it expects on the road

The state manual lets the broker and provider set payment terms in the service agreement. If the agreement sets none, the broker must pay an undisputed invoice within 15 business days of receiving it. If a broker ends your agreement, you have 15 calendar days from the written notice to ask the broker, DCH, or both to review the decision.

Verida's March 2026 facility guide lists these provider standards:

| Standard | Rule |
|---|---|
| On time | Arriving within 15 minutes before or after the scheduled appointment time |
| Pickup wait | Drivers wait up to 10 minutes |
| Return trips | One hour from the member's "I am ready to return home" call to pickup |
| Identification | Drivers wear an ID badge, and vehicles are marked with the company name |

## What providers should do now

1. **Call Verida about your region.** Ask the provider relations manager where Verida needs rides and which service levels are short.
2. **Send the Request for Qualifications** with complete driver and vehicle lists.
3. **Book inspections inside the 60-day window.** Line up vehicles and drivers so inspections and training happen close to your start date.
4. **Close out Modivcare billing.** Bill any trips Modivcare assigned before April 1, 2026 under your Modivcare agreement's terms, and keep your trip logs.
5. **Tell your facilities.** Standing orders and discharges for members in the three regions go to Verida.
6. **Check your payer mix.** If most of your trips came from one broker in one state, the switch shows the risk. See how much revenue should come from one broker.
